09:13 pm, December 27th - Insurance changing?
My employer is switching my health insurance provider from Pacificare to Healthnet at the beginning of the year. I've still not received the new insurance card. These types of changes can cause delays in getting prescription refills.

If you're in a similar circumstance, order your prescriptions now (if near the due date) to avoid possible delays.

Even if you're not changing carriers, is your Rx copay increasing? That's another good reason to now order those prescriptions due. Don't wait until Monday.

Our Copays have been going up each year now for a while. RX and Medical. I've ordered all my "stuff" but again, I start a new "flex spend" account for 2008, and have used mine of for 2007.

Co-pays are determined by what the company you work for wanted. Ask them. Insurance packages differ and a change might mean either way.

As someone who has administered a lot of such plans for companies. In a change they should be able to give you a temporary card or the information for the pharmacist to contact to get the thing filled. This is really easy, but the idiots that do this don't seem to understand and make it unnecessarily complicated. The end is you can demand contact info so the pharmacy can dispense. Push. Unnecessary drama.

Oh, and they'll try to get you to pay for it and then turn in receipts. If you are like me there isn't enough money in my retirement plan to pay for my prescriptions. That is only to make their life easy, it's not your job to make it easy for them.

My heart goes out to you regarding botched insurance.
My Employer switched Insurance while I was in the hospital for major surgery (colostomy----- ouch), so they forced me to pay the copay for both providers. Pain and insult.

Woof and hope you're doing better,

MC

PS, doing much better now that they've reversed the colostomy. I was getting rather fond of the Louis Vition Colostomy bag cover a co-worker had made for me...
